Then come home! About 13 days in all.

Please pray that I would hear and obey all Jesus wants to do - that I would do OK with jet lag - and have wisdom with the great numbers of people who would want personal ministry! I appreciate very much your prayers for me and know that they make a great deal of difference. Thank you so much.

Yesterday I received in the mail five complimentary copies of my book in Indonesian. I had no idea the publishers were doing that! I trust God is behind it and has a purpose in it. They will obviously market the book in Indonesian parts of the world. Apparently it is the forth most wide spread language in the world.

I had a great time in Brazil. l had lots of freedom to teach and wonderful receptivity! I was also feeling much better. Thank you for your prayers!

Tomorrow I am of to South Korea for month of teaching seminars in churches and one week with a YWAM school. I really appreciate your prayers. Pray that I would 'know God' in all I say and do and in so doing 'make Him Known'. ...His presence love and power.

I shall probably teaching a quite a bit on Gender identity. Some of this could be a challenge to Korean culture. I trust Father for wisdom and skill in communicating. I also trust God for good connection with the people I teach. Also - good translation.

I had a good time teaching in Switzerland two weeks ago. Thanks for your prayer support. We had a good breakthrough in the end! It is lovely to be in Switzerland at this time of the year! Super beautiful!

This next week I am in Banff, Canada teaching a week long seminar mostly for South Korean pastors on Gender - probably mostly Presbyterian. I will teach mostly the subject matter of the book I wrote. I think that what I teach is needed in Korea - especially for the younger generation. God's will be done!

Please pray that I will be sensitive to the Spirit as I bridge the cultural gap. I need to know how to communicate in a way that is acceptable and well understood. Mostly we need the Spirt to give revelation so that we can all know God better and experience His great love for us! I really appreciate your prayer support for this weeks teaching! If any of you have any feedback to send me let me have it!

CAMPING!

July and August are months that are less busy and so we get a chance to recuperate and recover from the first half of the year. Clare and I went camping in the mountains around Riudoso - near Lake Bonito. It is a really wonderful place - quiet, beautiful and remote with no electricity etc.
Quite wonderful! Hiking, bike riding, reading and appreciating the sky, trees, amazing flowers and the wonderfully cooler weather!

WEDDING - DELVYN AND CHARITY...

On Friday the 18th September in Fullerton, Orange County in California, Delvyn and Charity get married. All the boys and their respective wives will be flying in on Sunday before - for a week in LA. Clare and I will drive there and back. We will all be staying in a large house we rented for the time we are there. Should be fun - and good for us to all see each other again!

Soon after we get home (the next weekend) I go to Recife to teach for a week in a DTS.

THINGS TO PRAY ABOUT FOR US!

1 Delvyn and Charity's wedding and our time together as a family.

2 That we would know how to sell the 3,000 copies of the book we bought as part of the contract in getting it published. If you want one please get it from us (if you live in the US) - at a discount! We had to pay close to $18,000 for it to be published and marketed etc.

3 That Father would continue to provide all we need spiritually and emotionally to do and be all He desires for His glory and the Kingdom of His dear Son. Also - that He would provide financially to meet our present needs and expenses - the third and final payment on the book due on September the 1st - an air ticket for me to get to Brazil in 4 weeks from now (they can't afford that so we always carry that expense) - a provisional tax payment due on the 15th of September - and last but not least our journey to LA for the wedding. Please Trust God with us for these needs to be met in His way and time.

4 I believe God wants me to write another book - Pray that I would hear, know His leading and obey. The title so far is 'Time Travel' and will be about God living in us and through us - the comings and goings between earth and heaven - the link between eternity and our present.

Clare and I are going to SA for the next two weeks. IE 13 - 26 May.
I will be teaching in a church in Johannesburg (St Mungo's with Kingsley and Jess Dale.) two Sundays and the week in between on... Life in the Spirit.
I will also speak at a short leadership symposium on church growth in the middle of next week.
Jesus said He did only what He saw the Father doing. He also said I judge only as i hear and my judgment is right since I seek not my own will but the will of Him who sent me.
Please pray that it would be the same for us - that we would know just what Father is doing and be able to do it with Him! I sense this is an important time for this church and we probably need a breakthrough of sorts!

Switzerland...

My time in Switzerland was really good. God seemed to touch the students' lives in significant ways. I also enjoyed seeing the last of the snow and then the sudden coming of spring - lovely! It was also very good to see old friends.

Brazil - Recife...

I leave today for two weeks teaching just inland of Recife - A DTS and then a Counseling School. I thank you for your prayers! I will arrive on Monday morning and go straight to teaching the DTS school. It is a bilingual school and I will be translated into Portuguese.

This Christmas we had a bunch of people at home in Texas. Clare's brother and family were also with us. Really super! Delvyn is engaged to a lovely girl - Charity van Horn. Clare and I are in Switzerland this week to teach in a Counseling school. We will stay till Wednesday next week and then go to speak and help lead a church leadership conference in Irkutsk in Siberia.

We are presently up the side of the Jura Mountains overlooking Lake Geneva and the French and Swiss Alps beyond. It is springtime in Switzerland!

Pray that we may hear God and do and say all He wants in us and through us.

Home again - it took forever!

We had the most wonderful time in Mongolia! God revealed Himself. I think that He did a deep and eternal work in peoples lives. I am so grateful when that happens. We taught on looking for the ancient ways...
Jer 6:16 This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.'(NIV)
God poured out His love as we taught on on returning to first Love (God's love for us) and living by faith.
Gal 2:20-21 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!“ NIV

Clare and I are leaving for Mongolia Sunday morning and will be there for about ten days. We will be helping to lead and speak at a conference of church leaders and missionaries from Mongolia,Russia, Uzbekistan and China.

Please pray that we will be the presence of God to these dear people. Pray that we will hear and know what to teach and say. Pray that they will receive what God wants to give and do.

From Recife to Ulanbator...

Hi...
I have just spent two great weeks in Recife - Brazil. It is always good to see old friends in South America. My students were great and seemed rather mature and easy to connect with. God seemed very present - that was a great joy to me and the students.
I am now home with Clare in Waco and getting ready for both of us to go to Ulanbator - the capital city of Mongolia (From 29 april to 8th May). It is always a joy to see the Mongolians and Russians (mostly from Siberia) and some of our missionaries who come from China. Clare and I will be helping to lead and teach at a leadership training conference. So many Mongolians have become Christians in the last 15 years or so! It is still kinda early spring in Mongolia (chilly) and we will be staying up in the beautiful mountains just outside the city. Do pray that we will hear God and receive all He has for us. Pray that these church leaders will go home with a sense of fresh life new vision from God.

Clare and I had a wonderful time recently in Kona Hawaii with YWAM. Thanks for your prayers!

Tomorrow (30th Nov) I will be going to Beirut - Lebanon for a week with Nate Bobbett from our church to visit a team of missionaries to see how they are doing and to hopefully give them some 'prophetic' input etc.

Next Thursday (7th-Dec) I go from Lebanon to Sheffield - England to visit a team working there. Clare will meet me there. We will spend some days with them and then go and visit Lynn, Clare's sister in Wakefield which is about 20 miles north of Sheffield.

From there we come home to Waco (18th-Dec) were we get ready for our four sons and two 'daughters' who are coming home for Christmas. What joy! They all live far apart from each other and it is a great and rare blessing to be all together as a family.

We appreciate your prayers for our time in Lebanon and England. Please pray that we would hear God and do and say all that He puts in our hearts! Your prayers make a great difference!

Earthquake in Kona!

Great excitement here in Hawaii - earthquake - 6.3 - everyone seems fine - not much damage since the`quake`was short though severe. We were about 12 to 30 or so miles from the epicenter. We are pasting in a report from a local person living on the big island which is fun, and describes what happened. We personally had nothing broken, but the building (Go Center) certainly rocked and rolled! Quite a scary and disorienting experience.

We had violent shaking that caused dead bolted doors to burst open, books to tumble off shelves and all our ornaments and china to migrate across surfaces or tip over. Lamps fell over, pictures are askew and drawers and cupboards opened spontaneously, but we have little relative damage--some glassware and a broken ceiling fan. There is sporadic loss of electrical power and the phone systems are overloaded. Latest info is that the largest quake was 6.3 and that we have had upwards of 20 aftershocks, some have been rather strong. Other homes in the area have light fixtures dislodged from ceilings and shattered wall mirrors.

Clare and I are in Kona Hawaii to teach a YWAM counseling school.

It is wonderful to be back on the Island experiencing all the old familiar

I am off to Brazil for two week's. I will teach two YWAM schools. A DTS in Recife and a counseling school in Fortaleza. Please pray that I would hear God and do all He wants me to.

Clare will stay at home during my time away. When I return I will be home for ten or so days doing stuff in our local church and them Clare and I will go to the big Island of Hawaii for about 10 days. During that time I will teach a counseling school for YWAM in Kailua Kona.

The Parable of the Pepperoni

Enrico Bodoni sat down in a pizza restaurant one day, an establishment operated by two of his sons. When the pizza entrepreneurs heard he was there, they prepared their best Pepperoni Special and sent it to their father's table. But soon the word filtered back to the kitchen that Mr. Bodoni was not touching his pizza.
The Bodoni brothers were astounded and marched out to the table. "Papa, we noticed you're not eating your pizza."
"No, I suppose I'm not," was the even reply.
"Bodoni Brothers' pizza is the best pizza in town," said the pizza men. "Everyone says so."
"I've heard that around the neighborhood," said their father.
"We put a lot of time and effort into that pizza."
"I know."
"The ingredients were really expensive."
"So I see."
The pizza chefs leaned in closer to the table. "Papa, you're embarrassing us. You know, sitting here in front of all our other customers, and not touching your pizza."
"Sorry."
Finally, the brothers threw up their hands in exasperation. "So, why aren't you eating your pizza?"
"I don't like pizza. Never have."
The brothers Bodoni were flabbergasted. "What do mean you don't like pizza? Of course you like pizza! You come in here all the time! If you didn't like pizza, why would you come to a pizza restaurant?"
The father replied kindly, "I don't come in here because I like pizza. I come in here because I like you."

Moral: Never mistake God's presence for His purposes. As many discover the manifest presence of God in their lives, there is a human tendency to correlate God's presence with some effort of their own. "We must be doing God's will; just look at how he is blessing us!" This is sort of like the fellow who thought the wind picked up because he put up a windmill. God's blessings are part of God's love for His children. In this He never leaves us. But we can only walk in God's kingdom purposes by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. And His purposes are equally real in the "valley of the shadow of death" as they are "beside still waters".

Clare and I are getting ready to go to Germany for two weeks. We will spend time with missionaries at a missions retreat/conference. Lots of counseling etc... We will also hopefully provide 'prophetic' input to our time together. We pray that we will hear God and be of help to people!

Tis an awesome and enchanting thing to be lost in a great and ageless forest, surrounded by Giants marching all about. There are eyes about you… In the great silence, with quiet and fearful wonder you look up and peer through the lofty canopy and see distant clouds sailing on an infinite sea of blue and find that in a twinkling of an eye you are stripped naked of all pretence and presumption. With out warning all is removed and all you have are tears of joy and wings of faith as you are reborn into childlike and ruthless trust… naked before Him… and you hear a voice… ‘Come home my small one… I have waited long for you. A feast is prepared for you. There is oil and bread and wine… a ring… a robe… a great Heart that is your home’.

I (Gus) shall be in Switzerland for two weeks. One week in Chatel with a counseling school and the other week with the DTS in Lausanne. Clare will be at home in Waco taking care of our cat and the little fox that visits every night to see if there is any food left from the cat. Thank you for your prayers!

Clare and I are off to Mongolia for the next ten days. (May 1 - 9) We will be teaching in a conference of people coming from Siberia, Mongolia, China and Uzbekistan. Do pray for us that we will hear God and that He will do all He wants to in us and through us. We go via Korea on Korean Air Lines.

In Snowy Switzerland!

I (Gus) am currently in Switzerland teaching a YWAM counseling school at the Lausanne base. My students are from all over but mainly Korea and I am being translated into Korean. There has been much snow but also sun shine. It is very beautiful and blindingly bright when the sun shines. I am glad to go for walks in the forest each day.
God is wonderful and I trust Him completely to do all He wants during my time here. Clare is at home alone at the moment and I will return to her at the end of the week.
Next week I have a busy time in Waco culminating in a prophetic conference for our church along with Joe Ewing. At the end of next week I go to Brazil for two weeks teaching in Recife.

Latest News

Clare and I have been in South Africa for the last five and a half months. It is now time for us to return to our home in Texas and start our travelling and teaching work again… We do that on the 15 th February.

Our Time in South Africa…

Our time in SA has been really wonderful in many ways. We have spent time with Clare’s Mum and Dad and visited many old and dear friends. We have been delightfully startled and shocked by the transparent, open, real and honest folk who live here. I think we both enjoy the security that blunt directness fosters in relationships. You know where you are with people and enjoy the commitment to sure honesty. It makes for good and safe friendships.

The various smells, variety of colors and incessant and beautiful bird sounds are so wonderful and bring back memories of joyful growing up and living in South Africa! The mountains and the sea, the trees, the flowers and the kaleidoscope of different people groups combine to overload you with overwhelming beauty and loveliness. South Africa is truly an amazing country. We thank God for our roots and heritage in this deep and beloved place.

Book Talk…

I have been working on the book I am writing and have got a solid 80 pages or so done. Still more to go… I have been happy with the progress I have made. It certainly is a lot of slow and sometimes tedious work. God is helping me and I am amazed that I have been able to do as well as I have. Please continue to pray for the book that I may hear God and that it would be something God will use to bless and grow His people.

Anniversary!

Last Wednesday it was Gran and Gramp's 59th wedding aniversary. We had lunch together at a restaurant next to the entrance to the Durban harbour. With us is Arnold's brother and wife. The couple that we are staying with came along for the ride. We are having a pleasantly cool and rather rainy summer.

It is December and Clare and I are presently still visiting in South Africa. We have recently spent time with friends in the Drakensberg mountains. It is very beautiful and unique! Every thing is green and fresh since it is spring here. We came across a lone Eland, the largest of all the African antelope – about the size of a horse! We are still working on the book we are writing. It is going very slowly. We trust that all of you who read this will have a great and blessed Christmas!
